In January, GTMA hosted its first online event of the year.
This event brought together a group of go-to-market leaders who shared their unique insights and experiences. With topics ranging from the challenges team leaders face to generative AI in GTM, this event was full of industry-relevant topics.
One of the event speakers - Sandeep John - shares some of what he enjoyed most about the event and tells us a bit more about his experience and interests.
Happy reading, and thank you, Sandeep!
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your work?
I currently lead marketing at Prismforce, [an] AI-powered talent supply chain software for tech services.
Over the last decade, I’ve had the opportunity to work across startups and large enterprises. My expertise is in building high-impact marketing teams. I’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to build and scale teams in Freshworks, Outplay, and DataTracks.
How’d you first hear about our community and what attracted you to this opportunity?
I initially learned about your community from a few colleagues within a different professional network. The opportunity to share insights and engage with like-minded professionals immediately caught my attention, prompting my interest in joining.
At the event, I spoke about why obsessing about your Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) is important. I believe that really knowing your ICP should be at the heart of everything you do in Product, Marketing, and Sales.
I feel most of us don’t spend enough time understanding our ICPs. When we build a feature, write content, or do a sales pitch, we really need to ask ourselves if it matters to the ICP.
What did you think of our event and the other speakers?
I found the event to be excellently organized, catering to a broad spectrum of marketers, whether affiliated with startups or large enterprises.
The diverse range of sessions offered valuable insights, with a personal highlight being the session on how Gen AI will enhance GTM (Go-To-Market) efficiency.
Are there any topics you’d like to see in our next events?
I would be interested in exploring deeper discussions on Gen AI and its implications for marketing, delving into the evolution of future marketing organizations. Specifically, gaining insights into what the structure and functions of a future marketing organization might entail would be a compelling topic for upcoming events.
And finally, what do you hope our community can learn from these events?
My hope for our community is to witness an ongoing inclusion of practitioners sharing their experiences at events. It remains valuable to showcase real-life examples, both successes and failures, related to strategies, campaigns, and tactics. These practical use cases offer abundant opportunities for learning and insights.
[And] I’ve always seen the value of communities. My greatest learning stems from these communities, whether catching up on the latest resources or just peer-to-peer networking. I would recommend GTM online and the in-person series as a great way to network with fellow GTM leaders.
